I loved my other Karen Foster Design tool – can I still use my accessories?
An adapter included in the Scraparatus® Starter Set allows previously released Embossing Alphabet Tips and Themed Tips to be used with Scraparatus®.
Will paper get stuck in the tips… that is always a pain!
No, Scraparatus® tips are designed to be self-cleaning. Each tip has a special conical shape that forces the paper out – no more cleaning your tips!
Has Scraparatus® won any awards?
Yes. The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) and members of the press awarded Karen Foster Design with the prestigious Scrapbooking & Paper Crafts Innovation award for Scraparatus® during the 66th Winter CHA Convention and Trade Show, January 28-31, 2007 in
Can I use eyelets with the Scraparatus®?
Yes, Scraparatus® sets both 1/8” and 3/16” eyelets. You can set eyelets with splitter tips or rounder tips. Scraparartus® will even set shaped eyelets. The only eyelets the Scraparatus® will not set are micro-eyelets and Jumbo Eyelets.
Will Scraparatus® dies wear out?
No! Can you believe it? The dies will never go dull because they are produced through a special process that will make them last forever!
Will Scraparatus® punch through thick materials like chipboard and leather?
Yes, of course! Scraparatus® can punch holes through materials as thick as leather, it may just take multiple pulls to punch all the way through. Scraparatus® tips are designed to be self-cleaning so check to make sure that the excess material is not in the way of your punching. Scraparatus® dies will punch through paper, cardstock and thin chipboard.
My paper is getting stuck in my dies – how do I get the shape out of the die?
Every Scraparatus® die has a special release hole specifically for this reason. When your paper or cardstock shape gets stuck in the die, simply use a push pin, paper clip or other pointy object to push through the release hole and pop out the die. It’s as simple as that!
How do the Scraparatus® tips stay in the tool?
All Scraparatus® tips are magnetic so the tips slide in and out of the tool easily allowing you to switch between die-cutting, hole punching and eyelet setting. The tips are held securely by the magnetic force and will not fall out.
What size holes can Scraparatus® punch?
Scraparatus® can punch holes to fit 1/8” and 3/16” eyelets. The actual hole sizes are 3 mm and 4.5 mm.

Videos may also load very slowly with a dial-up connection. If you are still unable to view the instructional videos you may request a free DVD from Karen Foster Design. What other dies will work with Scraparatus®?
Scraparatus® will work with "wafer" dies (i.e. Quickutz type). The key is that they cannot have the adhesive back pad on them.
Place the metal part only image side up on top of the Scraparatus® marble stone. Then place the paper over the die and the plastic stomp pad on top of the paper. Stomp the top of the plastic stomp pad with using the Scraparatus® and stomper tip. Lift the plastic stomp pad to see where pressure needs to be applied to punch out the entire image.
My Scraparatus® is very loud. Is there anything I can do to minimize the noise?
Yes, actually there is! A piece of foam or cardboard underneath the stomp stone can absorb the noise. Try using the piece of white foam packaging in your Scraparatus® Starter Set – it works wonders! Place the foam pad underneath the stomp stone. Then put your stomp pad on top of the stomp stone and use your Scraparatus® as normal. This will minimize the sound.
